Anti-Inflammatory

Mangosteen, a fruit that grows in Malaysia, contains a property called Gamma-Mangostin Xanthone. Research has been conducted on this compound to determine its health benefits. In 2004, a study conducted at Mol Parmacol was published. Several researchers at Tohoku University worked with rat glioma cells to determine if Gamma-Mangostin Xanthone would help reduce inflammation.

The group purified Gamma-Mangostin from the fruit hull of the plant. Through the study, the group found a suggestion that Gamma-Mangostin is able to inhibit certain activity, called IKK activity, with regards to gene transcription. It is thought in medical research labs that NF-kappaB is a gene that can decrease PGE2, which is an inflammatory agent.

What this means for the anti-inflammatory needs of individuals, is that during transcription at least, NF-kappaB can be used to decrease PGE2, but it happens when Gamma-Mangostin Xanthone is added as an inhibitor to prevent PGE2.

To further consider this information, know that another Tohoku University study was conducted two years prior to the first discussed. This study looked at Mangosteen, is derivative Gamm-Mangostin Xanthone, and determined if the use of it for skin infections, diarrhea, and wounds was scientifically sound. COX-1 and COX-2 are cyclooxygenase enzymes, which help the conversion of AA enzymes turning into PGE2 enzymes. Inhibiting COX-1 and COX-2 is possible with Gamma-Mangostin. Both enzymes are linked to inflammation.

For centuries, Southeast Asian countries have used Mangosteen to help heal wounds, skin infections, and diarrhea. It was also used to help lower inflammation in wounds. The university studies have proven to an extent that certain parts of the Mangosteen fruit can be helpful as an anti-inflammatory.

Research is being conducted on how to make a new anti-inflammatory medication based on Mangosteen derivatives. It may be used instead of NSAIDs like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Acetaminophen. It is known that ingesting the entire fruit, the peel included, will help you gain better health. In order, to ingest the entire fruit, you need to make a juice or start by first blending the peel down.

The peel of Mangosteen is bitter and hard. For this reason, there are companies working on pills and juice forms of Mangosteen that contain the correct derivatives to help with your overall health.

If you do suffer from inflammation, from wounds or painful joints, you may consider drinking the Mangosteen juice to see if it has any effect on your pain. The rind must be used to gain the anti-inflammatory properties. Eating the fruit alone cannot help.

Inflammation is considered an underlying symptom of many diseases. It is important to help the body heal; however, it can also be painful and uncomfortable. For arthritis conditions, inflammation is not helpful, but a result of the joints rubbing together.

By using Gamma-Mangostin or drinking a juice made of the fruits rind, you can stop harming your body and start helping it heal. Speak with a physician if you have other medical issues besides inflammation from a recent cut or arthritis. You do not want to self-prescribe a solution or start taking something that could inhibit other medications.

If you are healthy and occasionally have inflammation or wish your minor cuts to heal faster, consider Mangosteen juice.
