Typical ideal harvest is between 8 and 10 years for the best fruit quality. The plant can then be transplanted, only during the rainy season, to an outdoor space provided the temperature is able to maintain above 20 C. Max temperature for Mangosteen is 40 C. As you can plainly see, it takes a lot of time and consideration for the needs of the plant to ensure it is able to grow to maturity.

Limited Supply

Major production of Mangosteen comes from Thailand, but small pockets of growers can be found in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean Islands, Florida, California, Hawaii, and South America. Growers are limited in how much they can produce simply because the nature of the plant. Supply and demand variables always influence where a product can be sold.
